This March 10, 2009 we commemorate the 50th anniversary of "Tibetan national uprising" that led the Dalai Lama into exile in India. The gathering of thousands of people shows that France is not indifferent to the Tibetan cause, but it remains powerless.

On the Square June 18, 1940 at Montparnasse few hundred people are already present from 15h to the point of rendezvous for all the associations that have organized this event. Many Tibetans are present, especially the younger generation born in diaspora, siblings, parents and children all came to challenge the fate that is reserved for their people. Few Parisians for their part have been made aware of this event, but they were well represented by hundreds of peace activists.

An event in the Many-colored showers of March.

A minute's silence was first observed for 203 deaths in March 2008 riots in Tibet before the Beijing Olympics. Recall that since that time 6,000 people have disappeared from circulation. They were arrested and accused of having shown or supported those that Hu Jintao, the Chinese president, called "separatists" because they support the Dalai Lama. Some protesters wear on their faces painted the colors of the Tibetan flag, others the French flag. Hundreds of flags flutter in the wind and gives the place an aspect rainbow sky. The rain stopped as soon as the procession of protesters walked the beautiful streets 16th arrondissement of Paris to the Chinese embassy. The Tibetan flag was hoisted for all to ask that real negotiations will finally be held between the authorities in Beijing and the Tibetan government in exile on a status of full autonomy for Tibet.

a steely resolve.

The French section of SFT (Students for a Free Tibet) has an agreement with the prefecture on the route of the procession and the protesters can not park in front of Chinese embassy. But they hope bouncy that their message of peace is heard by Chinese critics. Some signs are even written in Chinese, to focus their interlocutors. This day is a tribute to the nonviolent resistance of Tibetans for 50 years. The Dalai Lama has not demanded Tibetan independence but genuine autonomy for his people, and freedom of worship which they lack. In fact the Tibetans are willing to be an autonomous province of China, with the sole condition that they remain in Tibet. They do not want to be sinicized against their will and lose their identity, culture and philosophy of life. They are not Chinese, they are Tibetans.
And proud of it.

How To Moisten Blunt Wraps

March 10, 2009: From exile or silence, no choice for the Tibetan people sentenced to the diaspora.

Fearing unrest, China has strengthened the presence of security forces in Tibet to prevent any commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Tibetan uprising in Lhasa. Remember that March 10, 1959 over 85,000 Tibetans were killed, what had caused the leak India Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama, in exile ever since that day with his government in Dharamsala.

a sensitive anniversary.

Last year March 14 at the start of the Beijing Olympics, the riots in Lhasa had an unprecedented impact in the international media. Chinese repression has since redoubled intensity, and more than 6,000 Tibetans had simply disappeared, then lamented that already 203 deaths in the clashes. This year the Chinese authorities have decided follow the good old adage "better safe than sorry." So they deployed many police forces in all Tibetan areas to avoid being overwhelmed by outbreaks of violence. Any burst of spontaneous protest in the bud would be killed because he opposed the process of sinification populations, a priority for China today. The operation "strike hard" is underway. Nothing can oppose that Tibet is included as a Chinese province, as the grand design of Mao.

The beginning of a media campaign against the Dalai Lama.

No Western journalist is welcome at this time in Tibet. The only information available and acceptable to the Chinese government is that which emanates from his own point of view, no discussion over the "Tibet issue" is possible. According to the Chinese there would also no problem because "everything is under control and order is maintained in the Tibet Autonomous Region." The borders are still closed to foreign tourists until April 1 to prevent further sounding. China fears infiltration of Tibetans in exile in India or Nepal. Internet connections were cut in some cities. It must be remembered that the Chinese government employs more than 50,000 officials to monitor the web and everything that happens on the internet to create a subtle FILING unwanted people on Chinese soil.

A republic where it is forbidden to protest?
"We must build a Great Wall in our struggle against separatism and safeguard the unity of the Motherland," said Hu Jintao. The Chinese president believes "the Dalai Lama and his clique" as enemies of the republic China. A wide campaign of "patriotic re-education" has been underway since 2000. Then any opponent of this policy is eliminated or silenced, by all means necessary, including torture. The official line in Beijing in March 2009 has just commemorated the "liberation of Tibet and the end of a feudal system." But for a majority of Tibetans is the time to quiet the rebellion, and after 50 years of opposition peaceful and nonviolent, China still requires that the Tibetan people's culture and abjured his faith in the Dalai Lama. A violation of human rights which, however, raises more indignation on the part of democratic nations of this world.
